Today is all Lilly on the Martha Show

Set your tivo's! This morning is the Lilly show on Martha Stewart. This is the desription on her website for the show. Many of my new blogging friends are in the audience. So jealous!

It's the 50th anniversary of classic American fashion house Lilly Pulitzer, and everyone -- including Martha -- is wearing Lilly! First, Lilly Pulitzer design director Janie Schoenborn is here for a fabulous fashion show featuring some of her favorite pieces from the Spring 2009 collection. Then, California crafter Cathy Callahan shows you how to make charming straw flowers inspired by vintage crafts of the 1960s, the decade in which Lilly's brightly colored prints first rose to fame. Plus, Meredith Waga-Perez of Manhattan floral and event design studio Belle Fleur makes a vibrant pink-and-green flower arrangement that's perfect for Lilly-lovers everywhere.

Lilly's Jubilee Collection is amazing. I am partial to this dress.

In the spirit of today's Lilly fabulousness, I am adding an old picture of me and my brother-I am wearing a dress my Mother made me from Lilly fabric. Back in the 70's (I am dating myself here), the Lilly manufacturer was in Miami by the airport. They used to leave all the scraps of fabric in the front office and my Mother used to stop by and pick them up all the time. She sewed tons of clothes from the fabric and this dress was on of them, it was green and white. Just for a little more history, the people from Key West Fabrics designed Lilly's fabric in the beginning. They still have a store and sell clothing in similar fabric, but of course not with the magic L-I-L-L-Y hidden in the print!

p.s. Just FYI, I have asked my Mother so many times "why on earth would you cut my hair that short???" Apparently, we had a friend when I was little that didn't have any children and took me out for the day shopping and to lunch. She got an appointment at Peter of London for a hair cut for me-a special treat back in the 70's. So, Peter himself thought I needed short hair and that is how I ended up looking like a boy. My Father says I should have my hair like this all the time, but what does he know? Boys like girls with long hair-that is not written in The Rules, but I have enough guy friends to know that! xo
