My big North Carolina weekend got off to a great start on Thursday. Meg and little Ashley picked me up from the airport and took me back to their beautiful new house.
We stayed up late catching up. Friday morning, we started early with a list of things to do. Ashley got suited up in her Lilly courderoy and we were off.
I think I took too many pictures because by lunch, she was squinting every time I aimed my camera at her. She had enough of my paparazzi ways and stuck her hand out like a celebrity saying "stop it!"
We went to Birkdale, an adorable outside shopping mall with really cute stores and restaurants. My favorite store, Poppies, was our first stop.
I will do a seperate post on the wonders of Poppies tomorrow. After some key purchases at the Gap, we headed to some more of Meg's new shopping spots. We stayed home and had dinner with Brett.
Saturday, on Halloween, we got out of the house early and headed to Meg's parents in Statesville. After a quick visit, we all went to Meg's nephew Max's birthday party. All the kids were dressed up and it was really cute. Her sister-in-law made adorable Halloween treats for the kids (and adults)
At the end of the party, the Deluxe ice cream truck showed up and everyone got ice cream treats..More on Deluxe Ice Cream later...
We headed home and got ready for the neighborhood party.
After the candy extravaganza and many delicious appetizers, i could have gone straight to bed, but I was staying at party central, so we were up super late, not helped by the time change.
Sunday morning, we all went to Fat Boy's for brunch. It was everything you would expect from a name like that, a huge buffet of country food, so delicious and of course very filling.
But, I skipped dessert knowing we had one more stop, the Mooresville Ice Cream Company, which Brett now runs.
It was like a child's dream come true. An ice cream store open just for us, tons of wood spoons and open cases to try every flavor.
I will do another post on the factory this week.
We got back to the house and I packed all my gear, which seemed to have grown in the 4 days I was there. Time for one last photo shoot of Ashley, which didn't go so well. She had had enough of me and my camera, but I wanted to get a pic of her cute outfit. I had so much fun this weekend. Thanks Meg and Brett!!
