The Yuko Hair Straightening System

If you have ever met me in person, chances are, we have had a conversation about hair. I have been obsessed with straightening my hair for as long as I can remember. In junior high school, my very thick hair got slightly wavy and a little frizzy. Every time I washed it, I also had to blow dry it for at least 20-30 minutes. If you have naturally straight hair, you really can't understand, but when your hair is smooth and straight, it looks and feels so much more polished. Love it! Enter the Japanese straightening system called Yuko...

About 7 years ago, my friend Helen hooked us up to be hair models at our friend Duane's salon on Key Biscayne. The Yuko trainers were coming to his salon to train his stylists and they needed some hair. We quickly signed up. After signing some forms releasing the salon from any liability if our hair should fall out or have a reaction..kind of scary, we signed them and were on our way. After 5 hours of instruction, ironing, washing and blow drying with all the chemicals, Helen and I walked out of the salon with possibly the straightest hair you have ever seen. We were speechless! The beauty of the treatment is that it lasts until the hair grows out, so you can enjoy the effects for 6-9 months at least!

You can't wash your hair for at least 2 days, we waited 4 and when we finally washed it- it felt like heaven. I walked out of the shower and about an hour later, after only combing through it, had perfectly straight and smooth hair, just like I had it blown out. I had been spending $30 a week getting it blown out on Fridays.

This July, bff Brooke and I had our treatments in Boston by a Yuko expert, she did the whole thing under 4 hours (they charge $150/hour) and it came out great. My hair happens to be long right now, so I am truly experiencing my dream hair. One of my friends laughed at me for saying that, but I am so serious. I always dreamed of having long, straight, shiny hair and now I do! And, I have more time for other things since I am not blow drying my hair for 30 minutes a day.

If you read my blog, you can see the pictures from the last few months, I haven't really blown it dry, that is how it dries naturally now. If you have frizzy hair, or struggle with your blow dryer every day, I would investigate this hair system. The website is here and they list salons that provide the Yuko system all over the map. Happy straightening!!!

I am right there with you. It is like buying time. And no more thinking you have to go directly from the pool to the shower to the blow dryer.

My hair is similar to yours. I have probably tried every treatment known to man except this one. I was always afraid it would ruin my hair, but after reading your post I want to run out and have it done!!! Thanks!

This really is amazing. I had a co-worker that got this done and she swore that all she did each morning was wash and comb. It was always perfectly straight and smooth. I would love to have this done.

A girlfriend of mine has done this treatment and her hair is amazing. I have straight hair but with the help of T3 and GHD, I can get it really straight. It would be nice though not to have to work at it! Your hair is gorgeous!

BTW-I just copy and paste the heart symbol from word, I've done it with other symbols too and it seems to work. :-)
