News hit today that legendary Vogue Creative Director, Grace Coddington is stepping down from her role. She will remain At Large, but it is still big news in the fashion world. Grace, with her flaming mane of bright red hair, has been the yin to Anna Wintour's yang since 1988 when they both took their respective posts.
Long eschewing the commercial side of the fashion business, favoring models to actors and not in favor of anything going digital, her move is part of a wave of change in the industry.
She was the breakout star, unintentionally, of The September Issue. I remember being fascinated watching that movie and seeing how she and Anna related to each other.
She put out a coffee table book in 2002 showcasing her 30 years at the magazine.
and wrote a memoir a few year ago...I might need to check that out.
She started as a model in the UK in the 60's
after a stint at Calvin Klein in the 80's, joined Vogue in 1988.
Lots of exciting things to come for Grace, including a fragrance with Comme des Garcons and other projects in the works. You can follow her on Instagram here.
