The water situation in Flint, Michigan has been so upsetting to read about. It's so hard to believe something like this can happen in our country. Reading the Time article this past week where they put together a comprehensive timeline of events, you can see how many times this horrific tragedy could have been avoided and how "human error" can sometimes be the very worst kind.
These past few weeks since the story broke, there have been such heartwarming efforts to raise money or donate water to these poor people who are literally bathing their children with bottled water. Jimmy Fallon donated $10,000 and challenged some of his friends to do the same..
I stumbled upon a Go Fund Me page started by a lady named Marseille Allen, a Detroit native who is the President of Warriors Trust Fund, an organization that provides support to military veterans. She is trying to reach people that can't get go out and get water like the elderly. CNN Money wrote an article about her.
I looked at other fundraising sites but none were as organized as this one and I donated. Mars sent a thank you soon after-honestly the very first thank you from any of the GoFundMe funds I have ever donated to!
GoFundMe donated to her right away after seeing how motivated and organized she was..
So nice! I have been talking about this all week and tonight checked in and saw this..
The GoFundMe donated $10,000 to her fund. How amazing! I'm always touched to see this type of selfless behavior. This lady is seriously making a difference and I am so happy to support her. Check out her GoFundMe page here.
Praying for the people of Flint,
