Never Straight Enough

I like my hair straight...the straighter the better.  This has always been a huge challenge.  I have tons of wavy hair that I can't control.  My life changed in the late 90s when a little hair salon opened on Brickell Avenue called Jean Claude Biguine, basically a French Supercuts.  But, they taught their stylists how to straighten hair with a blow dryer that resulted in the craziest straight hair ever.  I was hooked and you could find me there every Friday for my blowout with a  wild girl named Janelle.  Money so well spent..my hair was under control and smooth-life goals at the time.

Years later, in the luckiest chance ever, our salon owner Duane asked Helen and I if we would like to be hair models for the Yuko system.  The trainers were coming from Beverly Hills and they needed people to be the testers for this treatment that changed the make up of your hair, for free.  We showed up and endured almost 6 hours of processing, rinsing, ironing, repeating the process, etc..and the end result was Helen and I looking somewhat Asian with the straightest shiniest hair you have ever seen. This was the pic we took that day. Holy cow...

That Yuko treatment is $150/hour and usually takes 4 hours so it is slightly cost prohibitive but your hair stays straight until it grows out, so you could get this done once a year and maintain a smooth look.  I did it 4 separate times.  In the meanwhile, I found different places for good blowouts and any chance I had, I would be in the chair having someone expertly use their hair dryer and nozzle to get my hair under control.

Blow outs are perfect for vacations as well.  I got a blowout before a girls trip to New Orleans and it saved me tons of time getting ready when people are waiting..what a great excuse to go to the beauty parlor!

These days, I time my blow outs for special events and try to get Keratin treatments every 4-6 months.  A new treatment has evolved, Botox for the hair. The might be my next experiment.

Shampoo and Conditioners make a difference as well.  Right now these are my in my rotation:

Royal Moroccan Shampoo & Conditioner

Tigi Catwalk Oatmeal & Honey Shampoo and Conditioner

Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner

Is there any others I should try?
Please let me know!!!!

Happily straight,
Xoxo, kp
